My New Partner

Just finished watching this episode for the first time on my DVD. It's so funny to see Alison and Amanda fighting over Billy! And I kinda understand all three of them hehehe. Melrose is turning sexier here, all they do is make out (Jake and Jo must be the horniest couple on the show) and we see Jake's temper for the first time when he smashes the beer bottles in the bin. The last scene with Billy finally making love to a woman is completely destroyed by the music change. How could they ruin this classic scene? Makes me pissed off. Anyhow, while I watched the end credits I see an actor credited as young Jake. I had to rewind and check out imdb too. Was I asleep while watching this episode?? Did Paramount edit out another scene -supposedly a flashback to Jake's childhood? Why? The thing is, I can't really remember a scene like this. Not from repeats either. Do you? Makes me curious - I may have to dig out my old rusty VHS cassette with this episode on in which I taped back in 1999 or something to just check it out! And to also just get that perfect right ending with the original song. . .

Yeah, I admit, in the beginning I was solely a Alison/Jake shipper and couldn't stand Amanda, but now I understand watching it more where Amanda was coming from. Alison insisted she had no interest in Billy, Amanda starts dating him and BAM-all the sudden she is interested...and yes, there was def some horniness going on w/ Jake and Jo at the point, I remember when they could barely make it home the first time they did it, and NO, just reading the episode description and my brilliant memory, I can pretty safely tell you that there is no Jake flashback...the episode was just about Jake and Jo fighting about him taking the money from her divorce settlement to start his shop, there was NO talk of his childhood and no Jake child flashback, in that or ANY episode, all I remember in season 3 is Jake's biological dad showing him a pic he had of Jake as a child that's about as much of a childhood flashback we got of Jake, lol I don't remember w/ him or Jess, which is when you think they really would have had them...I think it was somehow a mistake, or yes, a scene that never actually MADE it to the show, but again not sure how a "young Jake" would've fit in...

Thank you for your answer I can't remember any young Jake either, just Billy in the fifth episode, lol. I think the more we watch the series, the more we find out and sees characters from a different angle, and also we ourself mature (hopefully haha) over the years. Basically I mean it's different to watch these episodes now than we were say teenagers.

Obviously I meant I was an Alison/Billy shipper, but I was an Alison/Jake shipper in season 5, now I am only an Alison/Vodka shipper, lol :)I have grown somewhat more tolerant and less of Alison, (I especially cannot stand her in season 5, and some of the whining in season 1, but season 3 drunkness is her greatest moments, cannot wait to get there soon, lol like you say perspectives change as you get older, thats what's cool about about having watched the show as kids and now as being the characters ages ourselves..

FYI, I just went through the episode to 100% confirm there is no Young Jake scene, and there isn't, don't know what they are talking about, imdb list a a "young Jake" too, def confusing

Likely a scene they cut from the original airing then, but weird that they list a young Jake then. The worst is though the last scene. Crappy music I also just watched "Irreconcilable Similarities" it was painful to watch the farewell scene at the beach That scene felt nothing special with that shit song they replaced "Wind of Change" with. I just felt like throwing something on the TV.

Yeah, I think of Alison every time I hear that song Def not the same w/o it...but yeah, all I can think it was a deleted scene, in the beginning scene in bed Jake talks about his old man, don't know if they originally had some kind of scene w/ young Jake and his dad that got cut...
