Possibility of a new Melrose Place spin-off?

Okay, now that this is a rumour and sounds like a big possibility I think we really need an own thread for this. Lisa Rinna always said she would do it and now even Darren Star says he would be interesting - thrilling news!

I've heard a rumour that Josie Bissett definetly is returning as Jane Mancini, it's not comfirmed but she'd love to do it just like Lisa Rinna has said. Great news.

Rumored returns-CTS is reportedly interested, as is Vanessa Williams and Grant Show sounded positive in TVGuide, making him also a likely return. Also, we cannot have Jane without Michael, paging Dr. Mancini, paging Dr. Mancini, lol

On a better tone, Rinna who portrayed Taylor McBride in the '90s show, said that she will "beg" for it. She told Hollyscoop, "Do I want to be on it? What do u think? As shameless as I am, I was like 'should I call them and beg them?'"

Taylor became a really funny character in Season 6, I'm happy for Lisa Rinna being so cool about the remake.

Mark Schwann who is the creator of One Tree Hill could maybe talk Daphne Zuniga into joining too then? Anyway if Darren Star couldn't or didn't want to come on board this is a great writer who I give thumbs up.

Unfortunately, he may only be able to write the pilot, as he is also busy with One Tree Hill, but yes, hopefully he'll convince Daphne to change her mind and at least give us a decent start...and I am not a One Tree Hill viewer, but I'll trust you're judgemental that he's a good second choice

Oh, and as for Lisa's "hell, yes" reaction to doing the spin-off to qoute Dr. Shaw, "finally, the reaction I've been looking for" Haha

I mean I think Nicole Richie had a few DUI's and only spent an hour and a half in jail, so I'd have actually been pissed if they gave Heather jail time for this one...and I really don't think a non-celebrity would treated much differently considering it was the first offense and she wasn't driving under the influence..

Okay, good to hear things are still on track, but I want more than just a couple of the old Melrosians, let's face it, OUR generation of 20-somethings is boring, give me more crazy-40 something year olds. Ugh, wish Grant would make up his damn mind, it's like Alison with whether or not she wanted her baby in Season 5, haha Jennie Garth said she didn't want to do the MP spinoff thing again, so I doubt it, but it might be interesting to see how things work with those two now that is not under age...

Yeah I read both articles as well. Looks like Grant Show will most likely appear on 90210 if reprising his role. Too bad the deal with Mark Schwann fell through he can drama One Tree Hill is the closest you come to MP these days and I was confident that he would do a great job. I don't mind exploring L.A. more and Melrose, but less drama? Oh no, didn't they learn from the first season back then? Hehehe, who's gonna be the special guest star this time arriving later and save the show? No what they need is drama, just not crazy over-the-top plotlines like the end of season 4 and season 6...

I agree, it might it would be nice to let things evolve naturally the way they did on the original, but lets face it, in the TV landscape these days, any show that doesn't capture viewers in the first few episodes will not survive. MP never would've survived past Season 1 today, so it's needs to be like MP at it's best, now it's worst, and fast...and if they focus more on the old characters, there won't be as big of a need to get to know the characters to get interested...

That's right - that's why I wish this show was on cable. Then we would finally hear them say "Fuck you!" instead of "Screw you" too Cable shows are just so much better these days...

Yeah, like Jamie said on the THS about "Melrose Movie, now we're talking", because they could get away with more, but yes, cable is also an option for getting away with more, since I don't see the movie thing happening anyway, and than Alison could call Amanda a conniving bleached blonde piece of shit, lol Given her book we know damn well that's what CTS would've really said Too bad the CW version will be network television censored...
